BEIJING (Reuters Life!) - Want to marry rich? Then the unlikely named Beijing Moral Education Center for Women is for you.

For 30 hours of training costing 20,000 yuan ($3,080), women keen to snag a billionaire, millionaire or even just an affluent man learn techniques to make them more attractive, from how to put on make-up in the most flattering way to how to spot a liar by looking at his facial expressions.

The school in the world's second largest economy -- home to 189 billionaires and just under one million millionaires -- has attracted over 2,800 mainly middle class women since it opened in August last year, and students such as 23-year-old Zhou Yue believe it's time and money well spent.

"My family had a business and there was a time when things were very difficult for us," she told Reuters.

"During that period, I was struggling a lot inside, asking myself why we have to do this, why my childhood had to be so different from other people's. So I thought to myself, if I can marry a rich man, at least I won't have any worries."

Lily Bing, 28, said she hoped the training would translate into better prospects. Students are taught conversation skills, personality development and traditional tea-pouring techniques, which convey elegance.

"I hope that the standard of people I can come into contact with in the future will be higher, compared to before I took on these classes," she said.

"That is, those who have achieved a certain level of success and promotion in their career. So in this process, if I can get to know rich people, I think it could be helpful," Bing added.

The centre's founder, Shao Tong, also teaches at the school, focusing on pointing out to students how to decipher a man's character and personality.

She said the school was encouraging women to become the best they can be by giving them a goal that many in this rapidlydeveloping country, with a huge increasingly affluent and aspiring middle class, strive for.

"We are nurturing internal qualities and developing potential. But if I were to advertise the school saying I would like to teach you how to build a good family and to better yourself, lots of girls would rule it out because they feel that they are agreeable and qualified enough," Tong said.

"So then I thought, why not be more straightforward by saying: do you want to marry a rich man?"

Wealthy eligible bachelors have approached the school in search ofsoulmates, and can spend up to 30,000 yuan as an introductory fee.

In the past few months, the school says it has successfully matched 30 couples that resulted in marriage.

"By taking the classes at this school, women can raise their personal qualities -- and perhaps better meet the expectations of men like us who are looking for a girlfriend or a companion," said Wen Wen, 32, currently dating one of the school's alumni. ($1 = 6.477 Chinese Renminbi)

Taipei, Aug. 6 (CNA) EVA Airways, one of Taiwan's major international carriers, will launch a new "Hello Kitty" fuselage in October to celebrate the airline's 20-year anniversary and spark renewed interest in travel between Taiwan and Japan.

The airline hopes the promotion will emulate the success of a previous "Hello Kitty" campaign, which saw two aircraft introduced with "Hello Kitty" exteriors in 2005 and 2006, respectively.

The planes' exteriors, interiors and accessories such as boarding passes, napkins, baggage tags and flight attendants' aprons all carried the motif of the Japanese female bobtail cat cartoon character.

According to travel agency representatives, the Hello Kitty aircraft, which primarily flew between Taiwan and Japan until they were retired in 2008 and 2009, became key parts of package deals that kept them nearly fully booked when first introduced.

They also helped Eva Air win an award from British magazine Wallpaper in 2007 for "Best Livery."

The airline said the new "Hello Kitty" plane would carry a different livery than in the past, but it would not divulge what changes awaited the cartoon feline.

It hopes, however, that reviving the "Hello Kitty" mystique will inject new energy into travel between Taiwan and Japan, which has suffered since Japan was battered by a massive earthquake and tsunami in mid-March.

EVA Air is bringing back the feline to the air in collaboration with Sanrio, the Japanese-based company that created Hello Kitty and several other characters such as My Melody and Pom Pom Purin.

Now here’s a truly uplifting story — 98 year old Keiko Fukuda of San Francisco got a call last week that she was waiting for quite a long time. She was promoted to Judo’s highest level, the 10th black belt. This is truly an amazing feat because only three people in the world have ever reached this highest of levels and they’re all men living in Japan.

Sensei Fukuda still teaches hand techniques to her judo students at the women’s dojo in San Francisco’s Noe Valley. She is also the only living student of judo’s founder Jigoro Kano, who opened his first judo school in 1882. A life-long practitioner, Fukuda sacrificed everything, giving up marriage and leaving Japan to dedicate her life to judo. She also faced gender discrimination all her life, relegating her with lower degree belts, while male counterparts who were less skilled than her, matriculated to higher level belts.

“The time was right.” said Eiko Saito Shepherd, a board member of the U.S. Judo Federation. When Sensei Fukuda got the call last week that she would receive the 10th level black belt, she cried. ”This has been my lifelong dream,” said the 10th degree black belt Sensei.

'Ninja' Bird, Xenicibis Xympithecus, Discovered With Weapon-Like Wings

Is it a bird or a ninja? Okay, it's a bird. But scientists have found bones from this extinct creature that reveal it used its banana-shaped wings as weapons, similar to how ninjas use nunchucks.

Bones from Xenicibis xympithecus, a flightless Jamaican ibis bird, were recently found, as reported in Proceedings B of the Royal Society's journal. The five-pound bird was found to have hands with block-like fingers and thick palm bones, its hands comparable to a nunchuck or baseball bat. No other vertebrate in the world has been found with limbs modified to form clubs. After studying the wingbones, researchers believe that the bird used its wings as a weapon, swinging them at opponents like a club. There was no differentiation in wings between males and females, suggesting that both sexes engaged in fighting.

Modern ibis birds are known for fighting, especially during nesting and feeding, when they must protect their territory. The bird can grip an opponent with its beak and strike with its wings. Other birds that whack opponents with their wings include swans and geese - some geese even have spurs on their wings to add a little punch...no pun intended.

But there's no other vertebrate out there with swinging club wings, and as researcher Nicholas Longrich puts it, "As a biologist it's sort of cool to find something and be able to say, 'Wow, I haven't seen that one before.'" Maybe he never watched "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."

A homeless man who called 911 from the hot tub of a suburban Portland home and asked for towels, hot chocolate and a hug got arrested for trespassing instead.

Beaverton police say Mark Eskelsen called 911 from his cell phone, identified himself as "the sheriff of Washington County," and asked for medical help. He later admitted he wasn't the sheriff but informed the dispatcher he'd been "yelling for about an hour and a half."

The man said in his Sunday morning call that he'd been in the water about 10 hours and his towels had gotten wet. As he put it, "I just need a hug and a warm cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows in it."

The Oregonian newspaper says arriving officers arrested Eskelsen for investigation of second-degree criminal trespass and improper use of 911.

Warner Bros. Animation announced today that it has teamed up with Cartoon Newtork for a revival of the much-loved 1980s animated series ThunderCats. The updated cartoon “will sport a heavy anime look, thanks to Warner Bros. Animation’s collaboration with Japan’s Studio4°C” (see promo pic above).

No word on an official premiere date, but the show is expected to begin airing sometime in 2011.

Local boy with cancer turns into a superhero for a day

Thursday was shaping up to be just another school day for 13-year-old Erik Martin, but then something extraordinary happened: Spider-Man called.

Spider-Man happens to be one of the few people who knows that Erik, too, has a secret identity — he's Electron Boy, a superhero who fights the powers of evil with light.

And Spider-Man needed Erik's help.

Erik, who is living with liver cancer, has always wanted to be a superhero. On Thursday, the regional chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation granted him that wish with an elaborate event that involved hundreds of volunteers in Bellevue and Seattle.

The local chapter, which serves four states, grants more than 300 wishes every year to children with life-threatening medical conditions, but only a few of them involve so many participants.

Pulling off a wish like this one required a big story, and a lot of heart. And so, with a note of panic in his voice, Spider-Man explained the dilemma: "Dr. Dark" and "Blackout Boy" had imprisoned the Seattle Sounders in a locker room at Qwest Field. Only Electron Boy could free them.

Erik got into his red-and-blue superhero costume, and called on the powers of Moonshine Maid, who owns a DeLorean sports car. For good measure, more than 20 motorcycle officers from the Bellevue Police Department and King County and Snohomish sheriff's offices escorted Electron Boy to Seattle.

"They shut down 405 — they shut down I-90," marveled Moonshine Maid, aka Misty Peterson. "I thought it would just be me, in the car."

At Qwest Field, Electron Boy was directed by frantic fans to the Sounders locker room, where the entire team was shouting for help behind jammed doors. With a little help from Lightning Lad, the alter ego of local actor Rob Burgess, Erik opened the door with his lightning rod. The Sounders cheered.

"Thank you, Electron Boy," said defender Taylor Graham.

"You saved us!" exclaimed forward Nate Jaqua.

"Good job, big man," said defender Tyrone Marshall. And forward Steve Zakuani mutely bowed his thanks.

Electron Boy seemed a little dazed by his powers. Out on Qwest Field, the Sounders gave Erik a hero's congratulations, posed for pictures and gave him a jersey and autographed ball.

Everyone was startled when, overhead, the Jumbotron crackled to life.

"Electron Boy, I am Dr. Dark and this is Blackout Boy," sneered an evil voice, as the villain — Edgar Hansen, and his sidekick Jake Anderson, both of Discovery Channel's "Deadliest Catch" — taunted the young superhero. "We are here to take over Seattle and make it dark!"

On the Jumbotron, a video showed a Puget Sound Electric employee Jim Hutchinson trapped in the top of his bucket truck in front of PSE's Bellevue headquarters. Only Electron Boy could save him.

As Electron Boy's motorcade — the DeLorean, the 25 motorcycle officers and a white limo — rolled through downtown Bellevue, pedestrians stopped in their tracks and pulled out their cameras to take pictures. Clearly, somebody famous was in town. But who could it be?

"It's Electron Boy," Erik's older sister, Charlotte Foote, shouted out the window of the limousine.

More than 250 PSE employees gathered outside the company's headquarters and cheered as Electron Boy freed the trapped worker. "It was so loud, people in office buildings were looking out the window," said Make-A-Wish communications director Jeannette Tarcha.

But Dr. Dark and Blackout Boy were still at large. Electron Boy got a tip that the evil duo were at the Space Needle, where they had disabled the elevator and trapped people on the observation deck. Racing back to Seattle, Electron Boy stepped out of the DeLorean to a cheering crowd of dozens of admirers, and confronted his nemesis.

"How did you find us, Electron Boy?" Dr. Dark demanded.

Erik wordlessly leapt at Dr. Dark with his lightning rod, freezing the villain. Then he unlocked the elevator and freed the people trapped upstairs.

Bellevue police Officer Curtis McIvor snapped handcuffs on Dr. Dark and Blackout Boy, who couldn't resist some last words: "How can we thank you for saving our souls?"

A tiny smile played around Electron Boy's mouth. Just for good measure, he held his lightning sword to Blackout Boy's throat again. The crowd went wild. "Hip-hip, hooray!"

Seattle City Councilwoman Sally Bagshaw stepped forward with a key to the city and a proclamation that Thursday was Electron Boy Day. Afterward, Erik posed for the TV cameras, flexed his muscles and spent some time astride a Bellevue police motorcycle.

"He's over the moon," said Foote. "This is definitely beyond anything we thought it would be."

Watching her son run across the plaza in front of the Space Needle, mom Judy Martin said Erik goes to school when he's able, but is often too tired. "He hasn't had this much energy in a long time," she said. "They called it the power of the wish, and they're right."

Like any good superhero, Electron Boy kept his innermost thoughts to himself. But he did have one important thing to say:

"This is the best day of my life."

Now I've stumbled across this awesome restaurant (which I plan on visiting) simply named, "Ninja" in Taipei, Taiwan. The door is hidden behind a waterfall and waitresses throw flare flames at diners, who have to get past a moat before sitting at their table in the dimly lit dining hall. Hot chicks with swords and fire ... oh, they serve Japanese food.

Crabzilla is the biggest crab ever seen in Britain

A giant Japanese spider crab with limbs more than 5ft (1.5m) long has gone on show in Britian.

Nicknamed Crabzilla he is thought to be the biggest crab ever to be seen in Britain and you certainly wouldn't want to get pinched by his massive claws.

But experts at the Sea Life Centre in Birmingham say he is still growing and his legs could grow to 15ft (4.5m)

Crabzilla was caught by fishermen in the Pacific Ocean before being taken to the Birmingham aquarium where he will be on show in their ray tank till the end of March.

He will then travel to Belgium where he will make Sea Life centre in Blankenberge his permanent home.
