Michael Jackson Dies at Age 50
I just found out that Michael Jackson died today of a heart attack. What else can I say ... he was awesome and it sucks that he's no longer with us.
This might be the first time I actually care that a celebrity has died. I truly believe this man has touched my life. I remember my dad buying the records to play for me when I was only 6. I'm so sad you are both gone ...

Vietnamese Taco Truck ... Sounds AWESOME
In a rapidly growing trend that blends all the best parts about real California fast food, three UCLA grads have announced plans for a Vietnamese food truck that will serve favorites like banh mi and twists like lemongrass chicken tacos. Just like its Twittering predecessors Kogi BBQ and Don Chow Tacos (Chinese-Mexican fusion), the Nom Nom Truck (as it's christened) already has a sparkling website with highly integrated social media links: Twitter, Flickr, and Facebook.
Founder David Stankunas, one of the three Bruins responsible for the new concept, tells LAist via email: "It seems everyone is buzzing about banh mi! To be honest, that's just the way I like it! I'm such a huge fan of Vietnamese food, so I'm incredibly happy to see all this interest!" (LA Weekly's Squid Ink write-up is just the tip of the buzz currently sweeping the Tweetosphere.)
The enterprise will be launching in August and will remain primarily in the West Side -- since poor Santa Monicans somehow currently exist without banh mi. True, West LAers have Pho 99, but it's pretty poor chops compared to the Valley, K-town, San Gabriel, or Long Beach. If recent taco truck successes are any indication, I'm sure we'll be seeing much more of Nom Nom in the near future.

Police disperse thousands as celebrations turn ugly after Lakers' NBA Finals win (via LA Times)
The Lakers winning the 2009 Championship should be a joyous event. People should be celebrating, not acting like shitty people by looting and destroying property.

Spencer sucks
“I’m too rich and I’m too famous to be sitting with these people and cleaning up their s*** in the jungle, my man. And this cast is devaluing our fame right now. I’m sitting next to VH1 comedians that I have never even seen before… I thought it was gonna be all celebrities,” Spencer says on the show, "I'm a Celebrity".
It sucks that I'm watching this show too

The DIY Floating Water Bike
The alternative mode of transportation was shown off at the Naishahu Park in the province of Hubei in China and works by attaching eight water gallons to a metal frame attached to the bike. The wheels have been outfitted with paddles which allow it to maneuver. When the bike is on the road, the water gallons are raised, making it suitable for the street. Li Weiguo spent around 20,000 yuan (around $3,000) to develop the bike and is currently trying to refine his design and is looking for a manufacturer to mass produce it.

Life-Size Gundam in Japan
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the mecha anime/manga/toy/video game franchise, this 18-meter-tall (59-foot-tall) RX-78 has been erected.
Part of the "Mobile Suit Gundam 30th Anniversary Project," the structure in Odaiba's Shiokaze Park will stay up for only two months and be built from fiberglass-reinforced plastic over a steel frame and coated in a layer of awesomeness.
